Meet Kara Moore, one of three Captains for FWFC 00G team. Kara has been playing select soccer with Fort Worth FC for four years and has been one of their Captains for three years.
Kara believes that some of the leadership traits that are important to have as a Captain are: good chemistry, good communication, having 100% faith in everyone and playing your heart out for each of your teammates. She says it is important to motivate the 00G by reminding them what their team goals are and how they need to get there before and after they play regardless of having lost a game or not.
Kara’s advice for younger FWFC players who want to play in both high school and select is to keep in mind that playing in high school is more for fun. It will give you the chance to keep touching the soccer ball. However, if you’re wanting to play in college, it’s important to stay select because that is where colleges will look at you. If you plan on taking your game to the college level, never quit playing select or high school soccer.
You can find this Azle Hornet playing mid field and forward for Azle High School and forward for FWFC. Her plans are to play in college and she would like to keep playing and go as far as she can with this sport!! She would like to earn her degree in something that involves working with children.
Let’s meet Micaela Rodriguez, Captain for Fort Worth FC 00G. She has been with FWFC for four years and has been a Captain all four years. Micaela says that important leadership traits which are necessary to be a good Captain are: loyalty, attitude, trust, good communication, and truthfulness. Before games Micaela will tell the girls to play their hardest and give it their all, and that it is important that they never give up. After a loss, she will remind her teammates to keep their heads up and that they will get the win next time!
Some advice Micaela has for the younger players at FWFC who are interested in playing select and high school would be to know when to rest your body, and treat high school just like club. She says that it is important to go out and try your hardest on the field!
Micaela attends Crowley High School and will graduate in 2019! You can find her playing center-mid or outside mid for both FWFC and Crowley.
Introducing, Bailey Cook, Captain for the 00G team. Bailey has been playing with Fort Worth FC for four years and has been a Captain all four years! She says as a Captain it is important to know when it’s okay to joke around and when it’s time to be serious. Being humble is also an important trait to have as a Captain and most importantly, always playing as a family. Before each game Bailey and the other two Captains will send out a message before some of the games and have a pep talk with the team before every game. When the team faces a loss, Bailey and the other Captains will motivate the other players to play as a family the next game and get the win!
For younger FWFC players, Bailey says it is important to have confidence in yourself, always have integrity, and to be humble.
Bailey is a Junior at Lake Ridge High School and will graduate in 2018. She plays left defense in high school and right defense for FWFC. She plans to play soccer in college and major in education with a minor in psychology.
