This past weekend our FWFC 01G Red travelled to Lafayette Louisiana to compete in the regional of the President's Cup. The girls represented North Texas in the opening ceremonies trading FWFC shirts, pins, and other club spirit wear with other teams from across region 3.
Game one of the event was delayed over an hour due to rain. The girls were finally allowed to play their game against South Texas' Lonestars. Unfortunately the completely flooded fields. Although the girls scored first and competed very well in a very tough match, the Lonestars scored their second goal with 3 minutes left in the second half. The weather and field conditions made this a crazy game to try and play in.
Due to the nonstop rain, tournament officials decided to allow coin tosses to determine the 2 remaining games as well as the semi finals. We flipped to earn the girls wins in the two remaining games, but luck was with Arkansas to advance to the semi final rounds.
Sadly Mother Nature did not cooperate with the girl's goal of advancing to Nationals, but they represented FWFC, North Texas, Coach Frank and most importantly, themselves!
Well done all and we are sorry for the weather!
